Luca has been for 18 years in the façade industry, progressing from expediter to global procurement manager. His experiences include working across continents, from the Middle East to Asia and the US, giving him a valuable understanding of diverse cultures and business practices.
The opportunity to contribute to a growing and ambitious company like Staticus resonated with Luca. The company’s focus on innovation and excellence aligns perfectly with his own values. Additionally, the specific responsibilities offered a perfect fit for his skill set.
The interview dives into Luca’s impressive background, vision for the role and management style.
Could you please outline your experience in the façade industry?
I’ve been working in the façade sector for 18 years, all with a single Group. I started as an expediter in 2006 and gradually progressed to Procurement Manager. In 2011, I moved to the Corporate level, managing procurement globally.
I’ve had the opportunity and fortune to work with colleagues from around the world, including in the Middle East, America, and Asia. A significant step in my career was moving to the US and then to Hong Kong, where I served as Head of Procurement for a year and a half, being a part of fantastic projects.
These experiences introduced me to a culture and work environment that was significantly different from the European one, contributing to my growth both professionally and personally.
After returning to Italy, I held various procurement roles within the company, including a stint as Procurement Manager.
How do you think your previous international experience will influence your approach to working in Lithuania?
My time in Asia taught me the importance of adapting to different cultures and communication styles. I learned that a one-size-fits-all approach doesn’t work in a global context.
I’m from Southern Europe, and most of Staticus’ colleagues are from Northern and Western Europe. I’m excited to integrate different cultures and experiences, and I can’t wait to start.
My approach is collaborative. I believe in fostering an environment where everyone feels valued and can add value. I don’t come in with the mentality of “I’m the boss; you have to follow me.” That’s not my style. First, it’s essential to understand and build trust. Then, together, we will work to achieve something great.
I want to become a valuable member of the Staticus team quickly.
Why did you choose Staticus? What makes it a unique place to work?
Staticus presented an exciting opportunity to contribute to a growing company with ambitious goals.
The company’s focus on innovation and its commitment to excellence align with my own values. Additionally, this specific role and responsibilities were a perfect fit for my skills and experience.
And after the meeting with Ignas (Ignas Stasiukonis, Staticus’ COO) and Aušra (Aušra Vankevičiutė, Staticus’ CEO), I saw that we were on the same page in terms of principles, business style, and business management.
I realised that Staticus can be part of my working life. And I think together we can enjoy a long journey.
How do you envision your role in contributing to the growth and development of the Staticus?
First, I’m curious to understand Staticus’ approach. I always try to understand the environment well before suggesting changes. So, first, I want to seek advice from procurement colleagues and department managers, extract data, analyse it, and propose anything that merges Staticus culture with my experience.
I want to be fast but dedicated and committed to the team and the company. That’s why I aim to bring a strategic approach to procurement, focusing on cost optimisation, supplier relationship management, risk mitigation, and knowledge sharing within the team.
What’s your leadership style, and how do you plan to foster a positive and productive work environment?
Flexibility, empathy, and respect are essential. Because I believe in a collaborative and supportive leadership style, I value open communication, trust, and mutual respect. If we respect each other, we can build a good relationship between the team and bring great results to the company.
I have colleagues worldwide with whom I collaborated in the past, and they still reach out to me when they need help. They see me as someone important, a reference point. I want to create the same here in Staticus.
Staticus sees ‘respect’ as a pillar of its culture. It’s not just buzzwords, but these topics are really important. So, in the end, my goal is to achieve business results while being able to talk and discuss with the team the best way to do it.
Could you share a bit about your life outside of work?
I enjoy spending time with my two daughters and my girlfriend. They are really important to me and a big part of my time.
In my free time, I enjoy running. I aim to train for at least one marathon each year. I also love walking in the mountains and relaxing on the beach, sunbathing, and napping while listening to the soothing sound of the waves.
I love architecture, modern art, photography, and visiting museums (the last one was the MO Museum in Vilnius). I am generally enthusiastic about anything that evokes emotion in me.
