As Head of Research and Innovation, you will lead Staticus’ creation and implementation of innovative projects. You will lead a team of researchers and developers in pushing the boundaries of technology and driving the company’s growth with cutting-edge solutions. The ideal applicant will have a track record of leading R&I initiatives, fostering a collaborative culture, and ensuring the successful completion of projects that align with strategic goals.
Your future role
- Strategic Leadership. Develop and implement a comprehensive Staticus Lab initiative with a research and innovation strategy that is consistent with the company’s overall business objectives.
- Innovation Pipeline. Oversee the entire innovation pipeline, from idea generation to commercialisation, and ensure regular and on-demand reporting of forecasted and actual deliverables aligned with implementation goals, roadmap, and budget.
- Research Management. Manage and coordinate research projects, working with both internal and external stakeholders to drive breakthrough advances in façade technology and materials.
- Team Leadership. Create, develop, and lead a high-performing team of researchers, scientists, and engineers while fostering an innovative and collaborative environment.
- Knowledge Management. Establish and maintain an effective knowledge management system for capturing, sharing, and leveraging research findings and intellectual property. Contribute to initiatives related to sustainability, circular economy, long-term engagement, and life cycle management.
- Industry Partnerships. Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships with academic institutions, research organisations, and industry peers to accelerate innovation and access cutting-edge technologies.
- Technology Scouting. Stay ahead of emerging trends and technologies in the façade industry, identifying potential opportunities for licensing, acquisition, or joint ventures.
- Intellectual Property. Protect the company’s intellectual property through effective patent and trademark strategies.
- Performance Measurement. Develop and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the effectiveness of research and innovation initiatives and measure return on investment (ROI).
- External Communication and Ambassadorship. Represent the company at industry conferences, events, and publications to enhance its reputation as a leader in façade research and innovation.
What do we expect from you?
- Advanced Degree. Ph.D. or equivalent advanced degree in a relevant field such as engineering, materials science, or architecture.
- Proven Experience. Minimum 7 years of experience in research and development, preferably in the façade or construction industry.
- Technical Expertise. Strong understanding of material science, engineering, and building physics as they relate to construction. Experience with quality management, environmental requirements, and market-related codes, legislation, and compliance.
- Technical Software Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office, Revit, Rhino, and AutoCAD, along with other engineering tools. Quick learner of new tools, with experience in process improvement and digitalisation, including the implementation of AI.
- Intellectual Curiosity. A passion for learning and exploring new ideas and approaches. Strong organisational and analytical skills, capable of systemizing information and drawing insightful conclusions. Able to manage multiple tasks concurrently, take initiative, and work autonomously with a results-oriented approach.
- Leadership Skills. Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment. Skilled in building strong professional relationships and expressing thoughts and ideas clearly, both verbally and in writing.
- Communication and Entrepreneurial Skills. A willingness to take risks and embrace new challenges. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively present complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
