Staticus will be represented at Performance-Based Façade Design (PBFD) 2025, one of the façade industry’s leading international conferences. Taking place in Venice from September 11–13, this year’s edition will once again bring together pioneers from across the globe to explore how innovation, sustainability, and performance are shaping the future of façade design.
As part of the “Technology Meets Nature” seminar on September 11th, Laura Craft, Staticus’ Head of Sustainability, will take the stage to highlight how combining natural materials with advanced technologies can create more sustainable and adaptable building envelope solutions.
Her talk, “Smart Technology and Biobased Innovation in Next-generation Timber Façades” will introduce the Hybrid Unitised Façade (HUF) – a system that combines engineered timber with digital monitoring tools to support long-term performance.
First applied at the Textiltorget project in Stockholm, the HUF system replaces aluminium profiles with engineered timber, cutting embodied carbon by up to 65%. Integrated sensors enable real-time environmental data collection, allowing for condition-based maintenance and system optimisation over time.

PBFD 2025 runs from September 11 to 13, with the full programme is available at performancebasedfacadedesign.org/2025
