Staticus has been selected to design, manufacture and install the unitised façade for the new headquarters of Roxtec, the global cable and pipe seal company, in Karlskrona, Sweden. Our long-standing client Skanska Sverige AB, building the office on Roxtec’s behalf, awarded us the contract to deliver almost 4,000 m² of façade for a unique, unusually shaped building designed by AL Studio.
A distinctive addition to Karlskrona
The new head office rises six storeys above a basement, with a gross floor area of around 7,100 m². Its cylindrical form widens with each floor, following a cantilevered plan that pushes outward as the building rises — the effect that gives it its “growing” silhouette. Each floor will be lit at night, so the building stands out after dark within Verkö, Karlskrona’s port and industrial area around 10 km from the city centre. Two glazed walkways will connect the new building to Roxtec’s existing office next door.
Inside, the building brings together a showroom, auditorium, meeting rooms, open-plan offices, a lounge, gym and project rooms, with a dining room, recreation room and roof terrace on the top floor. Construction is due to start in the first quarter of 2026, with completion targeted before summer 2028.
Staticus scope of work
For this project, Staticus will deliver 3,826 m² of façade, including unitised façade, as well as around 300 m² of fire-rated stick façade where the new building connects to the existing office via the glazed walkways, plus soffits and doors. The external fire-rated stick façade have to meet fire protection requirements of R60 where there’s a risk to the main structure.
Distinctive feature – self-cleaning glass
The client has chosen self-cleaning glass for the whole building. The glass carries a coating that reacts with UV light to break down organic dirt on the surface and makes the glass hydrophilic, so rainwater spreads evenly across it rather than beading, carrying the dirt away without leaving streaks. It’s more commonly specified for roofs, canopies and skylights than for full vertical façades, so using it across an entire building envelope at this scale is a less usual, more demanding choice – and one that makes this project different for our team.
